Religious moderation is a concept rooted in Arabic, Latin, and Islamic principles that emphasize balance, justice, and self-control. In Indonesia's pluralistic context, religious moderation is a crucial element in maintaining social harmony and preventing extremism. Educational institutions, particularly Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur'an (TPQ), play a vital role in instilling moderation values from an early age. A study of three TPQs in Wonosari Village shows that each TPQ employs different teaching methods—Iqro', Nahdliyyah, and Ummi reflecting flexibility in teaching the Qur'an while fostering an understanding of religious moderation. Beyond TPQ, religious activities such as Yasin and Tahlil recitations, the One Day One Juz program, and pilgrimages to pesarean also contribute to building a balanced religious understanding. The Yasin and Tahlil traditions, conducted on a scheduled basis with separate participation of men and women, demonstrate the adaptation of Islamic values to community needs. The One Day One Juz program, which encourages the recitation of one juz per day, helps participants develop discipline and deeper spiritual understanding. Meanwhile, pilgrimages to Pesarean Wonosari serve as historical and spiritual reflections, fostering interfaith tolerance in a diverse society. Through various approaches, religious education in TPQs and other religious activities strengthen the values of religious moderation. The diversity of methods and religious practices highlights inclusivity and balance in practicing Islam without extremism. Therefore, strengthening education based on religious moderation is a key strategy in fostering a more tolerant and harmonious generation in religious and social life.
